I was working on a short post about a diversity initiative, as we needed to recruit volunteers. I wanted to add a simple image above the text to catch people’s attention.
So I asked AI to “please draw me a colorful but balanced image with the word ‘diversity’ in focus”.
Let’s not start to discuss how sloppy this prompt is. I really was in a hurry and did not want any sophisticated works of art at that moment.
I hit enter and looked back to my prompt. And I couldn’t believe what I saw.
I had made a typo. I had written “bat” instead of “but”.
“Please draw me a colorful bat balanced image with the word ‘diversity’ in focus”
But… AI had delivered.
On my screen, there was a stunning image of a bat with rainbow wings, holding a balance with a little green and red bat in its pans. I burst out laughing. It was the most hilarious and unexpected thing I had seen in a long time.
There are a few lessons here:
1 – Don’t ever be that sloppy in writing prompts.
I corrected my typo and it gave me junk for junk – just as expected. Learn AI prompting and apply it!
2 – Some mistakes are not mistakes at all.
This lucky coincidence, the huge creativity contrast between the two images made me aware that now and then I compromise on quality – and that I clearly shouldn’t.
3 – AI did what I asked, without questioning or hesitating.
It showed me its own side of strength: lack of doubt. Maybe we – humans – should also challenge ourselves to try the insane and the impossible sometimes.
P.S.: Do you have any stories with creative and blissful mistakes on your side?
